Indonesian Old Brown Java Coffee

The ageing process for the old brown Java coffee goes back to the 16th century. This was when the Dutch first introduced coffee seeds to the island known as Java.  The beans were stored away in the hold and traditionally used as ballast on sailing ships as they journeyed back to bring Europe the raw beans.

The ageing process was a result of a several-month-long journey at sea during the rainy season. With additional aid from the warm air, the arabica beans were tempered by wood and brine. This ended up producing the exceptionally full body flavour that turned out to be the perfect cup of coffee.

This coffee has matured for two years to lose some of its acidity and intensify its heavy-bodied flavour with sweetness.  The coffee beans alternate from light green to light brown colour.  The Old Brown Java coffee's smoothness makes for a perfect espresso or dark brown coffee.

First time trying

As someone who is trying for the first time I was pleasantly surprised, I like my strong coffees on a morning & this old brown Java coffee certainly delivered with its rich, full body flavour, it is a dark intense kind of flavour to it, will definitely be buying more when I’ve run out.
